A wonderful surprise awaited us. We had breakfast in a traditional farm storage hut dating from 1633. Our chef had laid out a buffet and made waffles as well. So amazing.
The drive to Malmon was pretty much the same as the one we did earlier in the trip with small farms, rolling hills and pine forests both planted and wild. The pines we're absolutely straight with branches just at the top. Like very tall pencils! We did a substantial grocery shopping not knowing what we would find on the island. A 10 minute ferry ride got us there. It is free and leaves every 1/2 hr. Interestingly it operates with a cable pulling it from one side to the other.
Malmon is, we think, typical of the hundreds of small islands that are along the west coast of Sweden. All rocky with few trees, picturesque white summer homes and harbors. We are in a tiny, very nice and new, ground floor apartment with our own rocky area with architectural landscaping.
