We had been planning to take the bus to Oslo for the national holiday and celebration of the signing of the document that established Norway as an independent country. It is also a national holiday that celebrates children with every school marching in a parade - children with their teachers. Children, women and men are in national dress or "going to church" dress. But when we woke up we were amazed to see families walking briskly past our windows. So we grabbed cameras, flags supplied by our host, and set off to Drobek's local parade.
We joined the crowd walking past our place to the parade. Wished we had on our best togs!
At the parade.
Then everyone gathers in parks for music, hotdogs, waffles, and especially ice cream - as much as kids want on this day.
We walked back to the Red Hut. What a view from our living room window.
Then a spin in the new car to see coastal communities, many small farms, pine woods.
We joined the crowd walking past our place to the parade. Wished we had on our best togs!
At the parade.
